Rendering timeless artistically crafted “ROOMSCAPES,” resulting in theatrical backdrops with curated collectibles, endeavoring to cultivate a generation of collectors, imparting lasting physical representations that evoke the past and the spirit of places where memories are made.

Architecture is the physical definition of “space and place.” Clemenstien Love has professional journeys that span three major cities rich with historical culture and architecture: Chicago – London – New York. All three cities cultivated creative passions in Architecture, Interior Design and Decorative Arts. Studies – Travels – Projects, all deeply rooted in historical context were absorbed experientially over time developing a resonating design philosophy – architecture that looks to the past in order to shape the present. Chicago is her home, for it is in this amazing city with the architectural monuments, public parks, art museums, city grid, lakefront, and mass transit system, she discovered her creative passion for design.

Clemenstien continues to explore philosophies of space, time, and life “a layering of memories,” both as design practitioner and educator. She is the Principal of C L Design Studios, LLC established in 2002, with signature project-acquisitions, The Greystone Residence and Park Manor Residence & Coach House. C L Design Studios - CLDS is a design/build studio specializing in restoration of HOUSES built in styles of the past, with a philosophy that – historic houses and period furnishings are valued as “architectural antiques.” Clemenstien believes in the continuity of tradition and strives to create a dialogue with the past and the spirit of places we live. CLDS provides functional services that blend the past with the present and cultivate clients’ vision for tomorrow’s built environment.

With a mission to contribute to a personal lifestyle expression of spatial environments, a unified vision is created for each project designed and collections curated. Clemenstien is a “curator” with a passion for timeless pieces that reflect unparalleled craftsmanship and innovation. CLDS provides a lasting backdrop of artistically crafted spatial installations – “ROOMSCAPES”– against one-of-a-kind curated collectibles that connect with an earlier time and evoke a lifestyle for modern-day living.

In her role as design educator, she is a faculty member in The School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Department of Architecture, Interior Architecture & Designed Objects and also serves as an advisor to facilitate academic planning, internship professional development, and undergraduate/graduate admissions for students. Clemenstien’s professional journey is a preface for the inception of The Greystone Project. CLDS will evolve as a Design Studio & Cultural Classroom, with the vintage residential buildings as the signature spatial foundation. Practitioner and Educator, she has designed her private residence as a HOUSE for living & teaching – The Greystone Residence – communal “space and place” for people.
